The Halifax Ballet Theatre has always stressed the importance of performance in the formation of a dancer. Students dance in at least two performances each year, presenting selections from the classic, romantic and modern repertoires, as well as pieces choreographed by other contemporary choreographers including Ms. Bader herself.

Local reviewers have again and again commented on the high quality of the dancing
"...highly polished leaps and arabesques - in fact all the dancers, from tot to teen, showed a surprising degree of refinement for a student company in a city with little or no professional models to feed the imagination on."
Barbara Senchuk, 1986.

Halifax Ballet Theatre is committed to developing a performing company. To this end we are in the process of restructuring our curriculum and establishing an academic partnership in order to allow students in grades 9 through 12 to receive the maximum amount of time in the studio.

The Song of Evangeline an original full length ballet based on Longfellows poem Evangeline, choreographed by Artistic Director, Clare Bader.

Bader used Camille Saint Seans music to retell Longfellows classic poem. The tragedy of Evangeline and her lover Gabriel, separated during the expulsion of the Acadiens only to be reunited many years later at his death bed, is poingently brought to life by Ms. Bader's choreography.

Excerpts from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker
are performed seasonally.

An Evening of Music and Dance includes performances
by Halifax Ballet Theatre dancers and local musicians.
